About Fifteen in 5

The mission of the Fifteen in 5 Community Planning Process is to create a discussion about what kind of place we want our community to be. From education to employment, culture to recreation and beyond, the Fifteen in 5 plan will ask residents of Linn County – from all perspectives, beliefs and backgrounds – to identify what is important for the long-term success of our community and how we can make those dreams become a reality. As part of the Fifteen in 5 Community Planning Process, fifteen ideas for Linn County were unveiled on May 11, 2005 after more than 3,500 ideas were submitted by the public for consideration.
Representatives from the 21-member Fifteen in 5 Selection Committee, the Cedar Rapids Area Chamber of Commerce, and The Greater Cedar Rapids Community Foundation helped unveil the ideas, marking the culmination of more than eight months of work by hundreds of local citizens.
More than 400 people were in attendance to hear the announcement. Those individuals also learned how they can take part in the next phase of Fifteen in 5.
The goal of Fifteen in 5, which is being coordinated by the Chamber and The Greater Cedar Rapids Community Foundation, is to create a list of 15 ideas that can be accomplished in Linn County within the next five years.
